Hello ,
I write this note as a hurricane approaches the East Coast, where I’m sure many
or most of us have friends and relatives. The thoughts and prayers of the Backbone
Radio staff go out to all of them in advance of the impending danger.
In our first hour this Sunday, I’ll be joined by my friend and fellow Leadership
Program of the Rockies graduate, Jude Sandvall, who is a candidate to be the next
mayor of Aurora. We’ll talk about Aurora politics and the massive “blight” designation
of land by the city council to further their efforts to use Tax Increment Financing
to bring a huge convention and hotel complex to Aurora land near Denver International
Airport. (Another candidate for mayor, who is also a friend, Ryan Frazier, is on
the city council and may join the conversation. At the time of this writing, that’s
not yet confirmed.) We’ll also talk about national politics and would enjoy your
participation in the conversation.
In the 6 PM hour, I’ll be joined by Marijo (pronouned Mary Jo) Tinlin, author of
“How to Raise an American Patriot.” We’ll talk about what it means to raise children
with an understanding of the importance and exceptionalism of the United States.
And in the 7 PM hour, we’re going to have a fascinating conversation with Oleg Atbashian,
author of Shakedown Socialism [http://ping.fm/leBpy].
We’ll talk about his life, his book, and what he, as a former resident of the USSR,
sees when he looks at the American political and economic picture today. You’re
not going to want to miss this!
